28-year-old Kolawole Ojo Babadiya shot in south-west London

Kolawole Ojo Babadiya

Kolawole died on Sunday 15 July after being shot in a hail of bullets fired from a submachine gun outside the SW8 club in Wandsworth Road in Clapham, south-west London. Another man was also injured in the attack but remained in a stable condition. Kola received a single gunshot wound to the head and was pronounced dead later that day at the Royal College Hospital.

Police believe that target of the attack may have been a group of young people nearby. Detective Inspector Tim Neligan of the Metropolitan police said Kola was a “totally innocent man” who was trying to shield a woman from the bullets when he was shot. The gunman produced the weapon from under his long, dark coat and began to fire. Witnesses say he had difficulty trying to control the weapon but managed to fire at least 10 shots into a crowd of people outside the club.
