17-year-old Stephen Boachie killed on New Year’s Day

Stephen was walking home from a New Year’s Eve party when he was stabbed in the abdomen and chest in Barking, East London. He was just 700 yards from his home when it is believed he became involved in a confrontation with a group of young people. He died later that night at 11pm in the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel.
Stephen was an A-level student at Newham Sixth Form College where he was studying biology, mathematics and business studies. He had come to the UK from Ghana six years previously. He lived with his father, 49-year-old, Kwasi Boachie and his step-mother, Sandra Bonne. His mother Isebella Akomiah lived in Wood Green, north London and his two brothers, Fosu, 18, and Kwaku, 15, live in Ghana. Stephen’s father, Kwasi said “I wanted him to have a better education, but unfortunately it is all over. Somebody has taken it all away… I just hope people come forward and help bring those who are responsible to justice."
20-year-old, Chester Daudu from Stratford, east London has been charged with murder.
