Crime and Injustice

Life means life for brutal killer

Top: Schoolgirl Rochelle Holness
Bottom: McGrady, who mutilated Rochelle's body with a hacksaw, has shown no sign of remorse for his savage behaviour.

Child killer and repeat sex offender, John McGrady lost his appeal to overturn the “life means life” sentence for the brutal murder of 15-year-old Rochelle Holness in September 2005. The final verdict of the Court of Appeal will see him remain in prison for the duration of his life. 48-year-old McGrady, who has a 22 year history of violent and sexual offences, abducted and murdered Rochelle in Catford, south London. Several days after she went missing, her dismembered body was discovered in several bin liners around the Milford Tower estate. McGrady remained unrepentant over his heinous crimes and was described by Judge Kramer as a “dangerous predator to women, especially young women”.
