No time for Silence

'Sorrowful': A smiling Tony Blair leaves Westminster Abbey following the service of 'commemoration' to mark the Bicentenary of the Abolition of the Slave Trade Act.

As the year of Wilberfarce swung into effect, the then Prime Minister, Tony Blair set the tone for the year’s events when he dismissed a suggestion for a one minute silence for the millions of African people lost during the Maafa during a government cocktail party to launch their British Bicentenary agenda.

In November 2006, Tony Blair announced his 'deep sorrow that it [the 'slave trade'] ever happened'.

This year marked the beginning of an unprecedented British offensive to overtly dominate the historical, cultural, spiritual and political landscape of the Maafa.
