Nassirudeen Osawe

A-level Art student Nassirudeen Osawe was stabbed at approximately 2.30pm on Thursday 27 December after he and his friends became embroiled in a row with a man on a numer 73 bus in Upper Street, Islington, north London. The dispute continued onto the street where the man pulled out a knife and stabbed Nassirudeen, who died at the scene, and one of his friends who received non-life threatening injuries.

A member of his family, who were described as being devastated by his death, said: "We are shocked and heartbroken about the loss of Nass at the tender age of 16 - six days from his 17th birthday. He was the youngest of five, a kind, loving and principled son and sensitive brother, with a great sense of humour. Nass was a very talented artist and studying A-level art. He was an exceptional student and was going to study art at uni." The teenager was due to celebrate his birthday on 2 January.

A 17-year-old has been arrested in connection with the incident and two 18-year-olds have been bailed.
